Trump's Delusions

regarding his DOJ and FBI. Maybe he is insane.

I mean imagine a paranoid boss insisting that someone is out to get him while all of his employees say it just is not so

Apparently now he thinks his political appointees are in on the conspiracies...  Good God man ...  You Hired Them !!!

I think Trump going on about a rigged election the past few weeks is the worst thing he has done in his four years as president

It is right up there... Since it seems mostly to line his pockets.

Personally, I think it was his down grading the pandemic response capabilities during his term, down playing covid, making masks political / covid, etc.

He is literally personally responsible for the "man slaughter" of 100+ thousand American citizens. I assume that will be held against him when he reaches the pearly gates.

Maybe that is why Christians believe in hell... The powerless hope that there will be retribution on the power hungry?

I just read an aeticle in Salon.com that talked about how easily, if Trump were at all normal, he could have won reelection. For example, infrastructure. The heart of Trump's appeal was tht he was a builder, somebody who could get things done in a difficult political environment. So why didn't he buildt stuff? The reason Democrats can't build stuff is that they can't overcome Republican opposition. But that just isn't a problem for Republican presidents because they know they can get a lot of Demcorat support for any rebuilding project, and all they have to do is peel off a few Republican senators. But Trump never seriously tried this. There were no significant building projects even proposed by the Trump Administration. The closest they got was updating our outmoded air traffic control system, and I don't even know if that happened.

One irony of the past election, an area where I was wrong, was with posing the question, "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" Lots of people are, and many more people are not. Yet Trump did best in areas where people are worse off, and he did less well in areas where people are better off. Go figure.

Often it seems the DEMs want to build questionable stuff... Light rail, bike paths, bike bridges, etc. That seems to part of the problem.

I keep asking why ~74 million voted for and support the guy... No good answers yet...

I mean this was Jerry's last totally non-committal answer...

"Same way you rationalize your Trump-hate, only with better rationale."

There is no building project that can't be questioneed, and it is hard to imagine any building project that benefits the population generally.

I am not rationalizing Trump hatred here, I think. Whatver my feelings about Trump, I have moved on anyway. What I am saying is that Trump had a lot going for himself, and with a little effort, I think, he could have reached and found enough voters to win reelection. Now Democrats have to do this, so I may be engaging in projection here. Still, Trump's base alone was not enough to reelect him, and he never made an effort to expand beyond his base. It's all very curious.

I agree with you that it should have been easy for him to win re-election, and get infrastructure work budgeted.

But he just kept doubling down on riling up his core base and alienating everyone else...

He forgot that millions of people like me were willing to give him a chance once... But that we expected him to be meet some simple normal requirements...

Like honesty, transparency, humility, empathy, live in this reality, etc. :-)

All of which were beyond his capability. :-(
