Unfortunately from my experiences this weekend, I think many people are happier just believing whatever Trump tells them... For someone like me who picks apart everything, it is so surreal. :-(

Do you try to persuade your family to use other news sources in addition to Fox? Do you talk politics or avoid it? My entire family is moderately liberal to liberal.
I do not try too hard, they are almost 80, pretty stuck in there ways and welcome to their beliefs.
Arguing though is somewhat a family pass time in our household so we do disagree openly pretty often on many topics which makes it uncomfortable for folks who like to avoid fractious discussions.
What triggered this one was that we were watching Gutfield on Saturday evening, and his show is somewhat humorous.
Unfortunately that led to the folks commenting on how great Trump is... I noted his most egregious flaws and the usual chaos ensued...
The good news is that in the morning our past arguments go poof like they never happened. :-)
It does give me a good perspective though on how the FOX, Trump and Rush propaganda can literally brainwash highly educated very smart individuals... Very scary !!!
Of course the reality is that this works for both sides... :-(

The article on Confirmation Bias is interesting. I find it even when I watch my kids basketball and baseball games, the refs and umpires seem to favor the other team most of the time :-).

The Left has the equivalent, however they don't seem to have nearly the number of intense focused almost zealot like viewers / readers. :-)
For mor All Sides Details
The news sources on the left do not have the same reach or impact as Fox.
I also say most have a higher level of accuracy when it comes to getting the facts right.
Reach is a matter of audience size and their willingness to financially support the news / opinion outlet.
